The camp is sheltered from the weather inside Langøysundet. The first fishing spots are found directly outside the camp, in shallow water where you will find halibut, plaice, other types of flatfish and both cod and wolfish. All of our previous fishing spots are within the same distance and if you choose to go in a northwesterly direction you will meet Eidsfjorden with great depths and interesting plateaus. There we find many interesting fishing spots for halibut, among islets and skerries where the fish lurk. Here we have found several sheltered places with fine sandy bottoms that hold good populations of halibut, of very good size. Cod and coalfish also swim here on the deep edges. At larger depths, you will also find coral bottom where you have good chances of catching exciting fish species such as redfish, angler fish, hake, ling and much more.
If you continue west towards the open sea, there are many interesting fishing spots where great depths are interspersed with lots of shallow peaks. Around these shallow peaks you will find lots of large cod and coalfish in connection with shoals of baitfish. There are also many interesting “sand gutters” between the peaks where the large halibut lie in wait…
Especially the area southwest and west of “Bø” is an incredibly nicearea with lots of different fishing spots. It is also not uncommon to encounter killer whales and other large marine animals in this area.
Eastward from Langøysundet you quickly reach both Sortlandsundet, which has produced really large halibut over the years, and in Hadselfjorden you can find fine cod, halibut, wolfish and coalfish.
In the direction of northern Lofoten, southwest of Hadseløya, you will also find a shallow area called Strandgrunnen, which, especially during the preseason, offers incomparable cod fishing and huge populations of large pollacks. If you continue your journey, you will eventually reach Gimsøystraumen, a current-filled passage through Lofoten that is well known for its halibut fishing in shallow water.
Just over an hour from the camp, we have also found a completely unique shallow area with good currents that have delivered incredible fishing experiences time and time again. Here we regularly catch large cod over 20 kg with top fish exceeding 38 kg. The location also offers incredibly stable fishing for large ling in relatively shallow water. The biggest ling have also weighed in well over 30 kg. On this fishing spot, which holds enormous amounts of baitfish, large coalfish hunt in the mid-water and around many of the area’s shallow peaks, large halibut are found. The largest so far measured a staggering 240 cm and several real giants have been landed here. This is definitely one of Norway’s best fishing spots but the place is dependent on very good weather so when the opportunity arises you should not hesitate to head out here.
