Havøysund – The fishery

Havöysund is perhaps best known for its fantastic fishing for halibut, but here are all the opportunities for big fish of most species that you can find in Norway. We start the season at the end of April and beginning of May where the fishing is very varied with lots of cod, wolffish, haddock, coalfish and halibut. As the summer arrives, further opportunities open up in the form of exciting deep-sea fishing for really large redfish, ling and skates. As the water temperature rises, halibut also become increasingly active, foraging in straits with currents, on shallow flats and over sand flats. Large shoals of sandeels often gather on the sand flats, and with more powerful spinning rods you can experience incomparable halibut fishing here, something we strongly recommend everyone to try. The season does not end until mid-October when it turns to winter in northern Norway again. The last few weeks of the season tend to be extremely good for those targeting halibut, but fishing for other species tends to be more difficult at that time around Havöysund. Havöysund is an eldorado for every angler whether you are looking for a really big halibut, an action-packed quantity fishing or targeting a mixed species fishing.
