FISHING GEAR
In order to avoid paying extra for overweight when flying it can be a good idea to buy some of what you need at the camps. We supply the following at very reasonable prices:

- Shad jigs (Storm and Giant jig heads etc 100-500g and plastics in a variety of colours)
- Pirks/Pilks (200-500g Pipe tubing pirks as well as cast pilks of many different designs)
- Braided (0.30-0.40mm) and monofilament (1-1.2mm) line
- Hooks (e.g. Mustad & WMC), split rings, swivels and prefabricated tackle of high quality)

ROD & REEL
We use standard sea angling gear for Nordic waters. This means 20-30lbs rods at around 6-8ft of length combined with a high quality conventional reel with a line capacity of around 900ft, 0.30mm braided line. Always use a heavy monofilament leader (swivel at both ends) in front of you pilk in order to protect the main line from abrasion from boat bottoms, teeth and ocean floor structures. A 1.2 mm leader approximately 3.5-6ft long is adequate. For plaice and other flatties we recommend using light gear; 8-9ft rod + a trout-size reel.

RENTAL GEAR
At the camps we have Shimano 20/40 reels for hire. These are proven, high quality reels many sea anglers swear by. They have a high gear ratio combined with a smooth, easily adjustable drag enabling you to cope with the wildest rush in rough conditions. It comes spooled with 0.36mm Sufix braid.

The Edge Siege XS 7.6” is an incredibly well designed rod and our choice as rental gear. It has Fuji guides and a high quality cork grip making for comfortable handling even in low temperatures, something that has made it very popular amongst our guests. You may choose between the 24 and the 48lbs version.

SURVIVAL SUITS
A survival suit might come in handy at all times during the season as it sometimes gets really cold up here even in summer. As feeling cold could potentially spoil your entire experience we highly recommend using one. In addition to keeping you warm, the suit is also a floatation device, increasing your buoyancy should you fall in. The suits are, of course, washed after each rental period.
